Course Reflection
English 113B was the first class that offered a more broad overview of literature and English. Instead of consisting of continuous amounts of essays and reading homework, Professor Khakda ensured that students were able to expand their knowledge of English through multiple different projects and assignments that were out of the ordinary, yet innovative and creative. One such assignment that was my personal favorite was the group project space project. Leaving the classroom, filming, editing, and interviewing others were all aspects of a project that I have never done before. With all-new elements included, my peers and I were able to construct a well-thought-out and incorporative video.
Another assignment/project that had me interested and invested in class was the argumentative essay on a global crisis. Instead of writing an essay on a topic that was handed to me, I had the ability to choose and dictate what I wanted to pursue, therefore I found myself writing about climate change and global warming in an instant. Researching more on a topic I was already familiar with and interested in was the biggest bonus that had me finish my essay with an A. After this essay, I learned that investment and interest are two different factors that truly add character and personality to an argumentative essay.  In addition, the semester-long blog posts were also another factor that helped me understand how to build a strong portfolio.
On a final note, although I have come to the end of my time in this class, I believe that I will continue to remember and look back upon this class with much joy. Assignments were challenging but extremely interesting and rewarding to finish. The class dynamic was very strong, and other students seemed to agree with me when I say that every individual has shown that they truly care about this class and are achieving their highest potential. After seeing everyone’s remediated website presentation, I am proud to say that this class has definitely changed my perspective on english. Not only did it change my viewpoint, but it has also allowed me to build up my English skills.
